“Bambùcchio”
breaking rules in order to grown-up
Bambùcchio has been designed and produced for an exhibition about Pinocchio. The museum ADI asked at 31 designers to design our own version of Pinocchio giving us only two requirements: that it has to be 40 cm tall and it need to be made in wood.
But Pinocchio does not respect the rules, and also in this case, he violates the curatorial restrictions imposed on him. Bambùcchio constantly changes shape, becoming disproportionately tall—beyond the 40 cm regulation—and is made of bamboo, classified as woody grass. The formal inspiration is the meter, a symbol of growth but also a tool for standardised measurement, representing the character's internal conflict: who wishes to rebel but is forced to adapt to the norm.
Made in bambù and pine in the workshop of Bricheco.
